Welcome to CookEmployees.com

Cook County taxpayers fund 25,000+ employees... lots good, some bad, to be sure.

On the same day the Cook County Board passed a massive half-billion tax increase in February 2008, a federal court monitor issued a report showing rampant abuse in county hiring practices.

According to a recent Wall Street Journal editorial, "Not so coincidentally, the $426 million that the county optimistically expects to collect each year will also fund somewhere between 700 or 800 new patronage jobs, and maybe more..."

Cook County Commissioner and State's Attorney candidate Tony Peraica believes in open, transparent government. He believes in the talented, hard-working employees and detests seeing all 25,000+ employees being cast in negative light because of the illegal patronage hires of the political insiders.

That is the purpose of this Web site - to provide an easily searchable database of employees and vendors of Cook County government.

Who are they? What do they make? Did you know that more than 1,600 county employees make more than $100,000 per year? Did you know that 27% of all county employees reside in just two county commissioner districts--those of Todd Stroger and John Daley?

We've posted the names, titles, salaries and hire dates of all of them here in a searchable database so you can find out. More information will be available as we further develop this database.

NOTE: This Web site is updated with 2008 information for county employees and forest preserve district vendors. The county vendor list is recent as of 2007 - and we hope to have the 2008 county vendor list uploaded soon.
